Chairman and CEO of BorsodChem decorated with “Hungarian and Chinese Friendship” award

Jiansheng Ding, chairman and CEO of Wanhua-BorsodChem was decorated with the “Hungarian and Chinese Friendship” award for his efforts in strengthening Chinese-Hungarian economic, trade and cultural relations. The award was granted by the Great Wall Hungarian-Chinese Friendship Association, as well as several Hungarian-Chinese economic, cultural and social organisations. The award was presented to Jiansheng Ding in the Gobelin Room of the Hungarian Parliament by Peter Szijjártó, government commissioner in charge of Hungarian and Chinese relations, and Dr. Lajos Oláh, chairman of the Great Wall Association. The award ceremony was attended by several representatives of Chinese-Hungarian economic, cultural, educational and social organisations.

At the award reception, Jiansheng Ding said: „It is a special honour for me to receive this award. It is of strategic importance for BorsodChem, which I lead as CEO, to further develop Chinese¬-Hungarian economic, trade, investor and cultural relations. I am pleased that, under my leadership, my colleagues and my Hungarian partners have contributed to the establishment of a high-level and long-term partnership between Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in Hungary and Shandong Province, which is a major industrial and production hub in China. It is my aim to bring as much Chinese investment into Hungary as possible. I am very proud to have played an initiator role in the establishment of a China Centre, which is involved in technical research, and a Confucius Institute, which focuses on deeper scientific relations at the University of Miskolc. I am convinced that, in addition to official relations, these initiatives have also contributed to the strengthening of personal and friendly ties between the Hungarian and Chinese people.”

Jiansheng Ding has been CEO of BorsodChem Zrt. since 1 January 2012. The acquisition of BorsodChem by Wanhua represents the largest Chinese investment in Central and Eastern Europe to date. Jiansheng Ding has been involved in critical decision-making of BorsodChem as Chairman of the Board since 1 February 2011.

Jiansheng Ding is a highly respected individual and long-time veteran in the polyurethane industry worldwide. In the past 30 years, he led the transformation of Yantai Wanhua from a small MDI factory to one of the top three isocyanates manufacturers in the world. In addition to his role in BorsodChem, Mr. Ding also serves as Chairman of the Board of Yantai Wanhua and CEO of Wanhua Industrial Group, the controlling parent company of BorsodChem.
